Late last week, I received an email from my Publisher advising me my book was in production and would arrive earlier than expected – anticipated delivery Monday, April 8.

When the doorbell rang this morning, I raced down the stairs – I don’t think my feet hit a single step. On the bench inside the back door, our Purolator courier (a great guy) had already deposited two of the four boxes.

With paring knife in hand, I ripped through the packing tape, tore away the white paper-fill and touched my first book. I’d forgotten I had selected a glossy cover for the black and white format. I’m so glad I did. The book shone, reflecting my excitement, felt comfortable in my hand, like the touch of a dear friend, a warmth rising from the soft buff-coloured interior pages of recycled paper.

I took the time to go over the entire book for errors I may have missed. And I only found one. In order for the Acknowledgement and Author Bio pages to appear on the right side at the end of the book, I needed to insert one more blank page. That was missed. However, for my first self-published book, my heart feels full and satisfied. I’ve corrected the file for the upload to AMAZON. I’ll post an update when it is available there for ordering.

Sunday, June 2 from 4-6 pm will be the official launch of VIEWS FROM THE EDGE OF THE EARTH at MAC On Main, 63 Manitoba Street, Bracebridge, Ontario. I‘ll be asking for RSVPs to ensure we have enough refreshments for the event. More details will follow closer to the day.
